itz a nice day today... with gd weather dat's neither too sunny nor rainy..
yeah!! perfect for our trip to d zoo..heh!
met up wif my dearie n had our breakfast at amk S11, den headed to amk interchange to tk bus138 to d zoo.. reached der in abt half an hr's time.. luckily der wasnt much of a crowd der at d zoo yet...perhaps it was still early ba.. =p
us at d entrance

we went straight in after getting our tickets, sponsered by my baby. *thx dear*
started off walking thru d treetop trail.. saw many Siamang 9 a type of monkeys) n a nice mini waterfall..

a Siamang hanging on d tree branch

d nice mini waterfall

as we followed d map n walked along d track, we stopped by d pygmy hippo section to watch their feeding.. thru d commentary dat d zoo staff made, i learnt dat when hippos open their mouth wide n yawn, it doesnt mean dat they're getting agressive but instead, itz their way of showing their affection to d opposite sex dat they like... how interesting dat is.. =)

after d hippo feeding, we headed to d white tigers' lair.. they were really magnificent looking.. their fur looks so soft..a real pretty sight..
den we head off to another feeding session, feeding of the Hamadryas Baboon over at the Great Rift Valley of Ethopia. The first thing dat attracted my attention when i reached d baboons' area is their big red buttocks.. they really hv big red butts n some r really kinda gross looking. Nevertheless, spotted some interesting sights over der whilst d feeding took place.

how sweet it is to hv ur partner pick out lice from ur fur..

no baby, baby dun go! stay near mummy!!

saw more different kinds of monkeys as we head down next to the Primate Kingdom.. watched d monkeys swayed from tree to tree for a while den we went to tk a short rest @ the Jungle Tandoor. after replenshing our energy, we continued our journey for d day...

we saw d raccons next, thou itz a pretty sight to see those small animals but d place where they live really does stink abit..heh

d lovely raccons, 3 in a row

next up r d cute little squrriels..

afterwhich, we came acroos some more small mammals like d komodo dragons, crocodile, iguana n a cheetah like animal called d Carlcuda or sth which i cant reali rmb itz exact name liao..heh

next up is d most interesting part of our whole journey.. we stopped by d den of d leopards n jaguars.. initially, we thot it was juz another showcase of these big cats so after trying to differentiate which is a leopard n which is a jaguar,( if it happens dat u hv no idea how to differentiate these two big cats, let me enlighten u on d new fact i leanrt today.. if d spot of d skin of the cat has a dark black spot in d middle of d ring, den itz a jaguar, if nt itz a leopard.. interesting isnt it?!)
we actually decided to leave d spot until dis fellow really attracted our attention.
der was dis white plastic container hanging in d middle of nowhere suspended by a thick spring.. at first we've nt much idea wad was in d container, but we got curious when d big cat kept leaping up, trying to hit d container.. after much efforts, it finally succeeded n it kept bitting d container, nt wanting to let go off it.. dat was when we knew wad was inside d container.... FISHES!!!
so d big fellow saw d fishes inside d container n want to eat dem.. after several attempts of jumping, leaping n bitting, d tail of d fish finally revealed thru d tiny opening dat d big cat has bitten off... n it got d cat more excited as it continue to try itz chances to get d fish... at last, itz efforts did nt go down d drain.. it finally got itz food, using itz own efforts soley.. well done!!!

trying hard to bite off d plastic..

there it goes once again...

yes, it finally got itz food!!

next up, we came to d lion's den... with only 1 lion n 5 lioness. according to d board, it states dat the lion will kill off itz cubs n only allow d strongest to live so dat only d best genes r being passed down to d nxt generation n dat's nt considered a selfish act.. oh well, dat's probably y d zoo personels put 5 lioness together with 1 lion ba..itz d survival of d best genes..

as we turned opposite to d lion's den, itz d homegrounds of d giraffes.. tall as they might be, still i can lift dem up in my palm... =p

dat's us with mr giraffe!!

we came across some more animals on our way, zebras, deers n particulary 1 vain ostrich which even posed der for us to tk itz fotoz.. haha!!

after bidding farwell to d vainpot ostrich, our next destination was d Fragile Forest. over der, we saw many unique animals n insects. the butterflies der were exceptionally beautiful.. but still d most rare sight we saw was witnessing d meal time of d bats.. which r actually called "Flying Foxes" n not bats.

leaving d trails of d Fragile Forest, we reached the tribal cave..

whilst we were walking, baby spotted a rather meaningful wooden pledge inscribed with some words..

den we headed to KFC at d children's world for our lunch..
afterwhich we decided to take d tram ride since we oredi paid for it together with our tix.. dat's when we took more fotoz.. keke..

getting bored, we decided to capture some farnie poses..

last shot on d tram b4 we alighted..

we went back to d spot where we first started in d morning n realised dat we missed out a small section..so we ventured into d area once again..
saw d Barbary Sheep, the otters n dis black furry animal dat looks quite ugly..heh.. according to d zoo personel, it's called Binturong, meaning a bear-cat coz itz neither a bear nor a cat.. how sad it is to be trapped between both species, dont u agree?? identity crisis?!

next up r d camels n Malayan Sunbear whose fur look so soft n cuddly.. keke

at 3.10pm, we headed for d Polar Bear show.. it was still early when we reached n we saw dis cute baby giant at d glass in d following pose...

it juz looks like itz waiting for d keeper to open d gates for it to stand out onto stage to perform for d folks.. =D
more fotoz @ d polar bear show..

n i learnt dat polar bears actually go thru d process of moulting as well.. underneath their white fur, they actually hv black skins..n polar bears hv a very sensitive nose.. so sentsitive dat they can even smell a seal dat's 64km away!
dear says dat dat seal muz b real smelly..keke..

next we headed for d elephant show.. but b4 dat we came across a nice little hut dat showcases stuffz abt elephants.. took a foto of dearie der.. tink d scenery looks nice when viewed from d top der.. =)

after dat, we went to tk fotoz wif d orang utan n made a couple of souveniers with d foto taken.. we made a mug n a badge each, together with a copy of d foto each.

dat marks d end of our trip to d zoo..
n we took a total of 193 fotoz in juz a day.. lolz
thou it was a long n tiring but it was fun n memorable day!!
